As in other cases of Yialouris's drawings, The Sun may also be a draft for a decorative artwork: a mural, a stained-glass window, or perhaps an illustration for a book or a poster. The large yellow-golden disc, within which the face of the Sun is rendered with a strong black line, is surrounded by rays: light blue and blue triangles. Finally, red circular motifs—resembling waves, winds, or simply clouds—form a square frame encircling the star. While not denying its debt to tradition, the drawing is a typical example of Yialouris's folk-inspired art.
